Today marks the first day of summer and with it, all the excitement another Summer on the Mountain brings at Fernie Alpine Resort. While there is a host of fun daily activities to enjoy including Scenic Chairlift Rides, a visit to Nature Bob’s interpretive centre, lift accessed mountain biking or a visit to the Treetop Aerial Park, we thought we would highlight three special events you might want to keep in mind when planning a summer holiday to Fernie:
Summer 2019 Opening Weekend & Pop Up Farmers Market – June 22 & June 23.
Get up early Saturday and catch one of the first lift rides of the summer 2019 season! Go for a hike amongst the wildflowers out to the new viewing platform or grab your bike and try out all the new improvements to the mountain bike trails including a full rebuild of Monorial Trail. On Sunday another first is happening as the first Fernie Mountain Market of the summer is setting up shop in the plaza square for the day. From fresh fruits and vegetables to one-of-a-king gifts the farmers market is full of great finds.
Griz Kidz Summer Carnival– July 20th
Family fun is coming to Fernie Alpine Resort!
From 11am to 3pm, the plaza will be a buzz with kid friendly activities including face painters, carnival games, balloon animals and arts & crafts, plus what carnival wouldn’t be complete without popcorn!
Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing & Mountaintop Camping Event – August 12
Imagine staring at the stars and seeing a meteor shower in a beautiful, dark, mountain top setting!
Enjoy a unique and amazing Perseid Meteor Shower viewing & mountain top camping experience. The event includes an Elk chairlift ride, guided hike, a delicious dinner at the Bear’s Den, followed by some special meteor shower programming. Afterwards experience a unique overnight campout experience!
